japiBooth

One PC, one camera and a countdown. Your photobooth is ready.

japiBooth is photobooth software for Windows: it turns your PC into a photo booth for weddings and events. Install it, pick the format, customize the strip, and your guests only have to smile.

14-day trial: a card is required and nothing is charged if you cancel before it ends. After that, €199 per year. For Windows 10 and 11.

The program's result screen: two strips of three photos with the event name and date.

It was born at a wedding.

We're Javi and Pilar. For our wedding we built our own photobooth, and the software too, from scratch. Afterwards we took it to other events and kept improving it, event after event. It's the same program that runs our photobooths.

What you need for an event photobooth

  • DSLR, mirrorless or webcam

Use a USB or built-in webcam without installing anything else, or control a DSLR or mirrorless camera with digiCamControl (free, installed separately, and only for the models it supports). You choose the device, the resolution and the mirror image.

  • Formats that print well

    10×15 cm (4×6 in) landscape, 10×15 cm portrait and a 5×15 cm (2×6 in) double strip with 3 or 4 photos. Layouts of 1, 2 or 4 photos, including “1 large + 3 small”.

  • Your event, your style

Event name and date on screen and on the strip. Your own backgrounds and templates with an editor, several themes (one of them, “Mirror”, for magic mirrors), sounds and a countdown.

  • One preset per event

Save the settings of each event and apply them again with one click. Setting up the next one takes seconds.

  • Print the way you like

Automatic or manual printing, several copies, and reprinting from the gallery when someone wants another one.

  • The photos, on your guests' phones

Every photo has its own QR code and its own link, so each guest downloads theirs without seeing the others. Photos are uploaded to a folder in your Google Drive, which stays private, and the program only accesses what it creates itself (what Google data it uses). It can also upload to a Google Photos album, although that feature is experimental.

  • It doesn't stop if the connection drops

If the internet goes down, it keeps the photos and uploads them when it comes back. If something fails (camera, cloud, printer or disk), it tells you on screen and logs it in an incident log.

  • Easy for whoever runs it

A session gallery, discreet operator buttons that don't get in the guests' way, and a demo mode to try everything without a camera. The whole program is available in English and Spanish.

How it works

  1. Install and connect

Run the Windows installer and connect your camera: a webcam, or a DSLR with digiCamControl. If you're going to print, connect the printer too.

  2. Set up the event

Enter the name and date, choose the formats and the theme, upload your background and save everything as a preset.

  3. Let the party begin

Guests choose a format, watch the countdown and smile. The photo comes out of the printer, or they take it with them through the QR code.

What you need

Computer
Windows 10 or 11. Minimum: an Intel Core i3 (4th generation or equivalent) and 8 GB of RAM, which is what we've tested it on. Recommended: an Intel N150 (or better) and 12 GB of RAM. It installs from a single .exe file: no Python or anything technical needed. It opens in its own window and doesn't depend on Chrome.
Camera
A USB or built-in webcam, with no extra software. Or a DSLR or mirrorless camera with digiCamControl, which is free and installed separately: only the models it supports will work, so check its website before buying anything.
Printer
Optional. In principle any printer that Windows recognizes will do: you choose the printer and the paper size for each format. On some printers the program picks the paper by itself depending on the photo; on the rest you set it by hand. Since it depends on each printer's driver, test it during the 14-day trial, before the license is charged.
Internet
Not needed during the event. It's used to activate the license and to upload photos to the cloud.
Language
The program is available in English and Spanish. The installer asks which one you prefer (it suggests your Windows language) and the program opens in it; you can change it any time in Settings.

Pricing and license

€199 per year

  • Annual license, for one photobooth. More than one? You need one license for each; if you need more than 2, write to us and we'll give you a special price.
  • 14-day free trial. Polar asks for a card, but doesn't charge anything if you cancel before it ends.
  • The license renews automatically every year unless you cancel. You can cancel any time from your Polar portal and it stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.
  • Polar handles the payment and the applicable tax, and issues the invoice.
  • You can move the license to another PC by deactivating it on the first one.

How to buy and activate

  1. You start the trial from Polar's checkout link. It asks for a card, but doesn't charge anything if you cancel before 14 days have passed.
  2. In your Polar customer portal you download the installer and find your license key.
  3. In the program: Settings → License, paste the key and click Activate license.
  4. If you don't cancel, Polar charges €199 when the trial ends and the license renews every year until you cancel. Polar handles the tax and issues the invoice.
  5. If you change PCs, you deactivate it on the first one and activate it on the new one. Without internet, the program keeps working for up to 30 days between checks.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to install Python or other programs?

No. It installs from a single Windows .exe file, with no Python or anything technical. It opens in its own window and doesn't depend on Chrome.

Only if you use a DSLR or mirrorless camera do you also need digiCamControl, which is free and installed separately.

Which cameras can I use?

Two options:

  • A USB or built-in webcam, which works with no extra software.
  • A DSLR or mirrorless camera through digiCamControl, which is free and installed separately. Only the models supported by digiCamControl work, so check its list before buying or assuming your camera will do.
Which printers does it work with?

In principle, with any printer that Windows recognizes. You choose the printer and assign a paper size to each format. On some printers the program picks the paper by itself depending on the photo; on the rest you set it by hand, and it can be set up on any of them.

Since it depends on each printer's driver, make a test print during the 14-day trial, before the license is charged.

How does the free trial work?

You start the trial on Polar's checkout page. Polar asks for a card but doesn't charge anything during the 14 days: if you cancel before they end, you don't pay. If you don't cancel, €199 per year is charged when it ends and the license renews every year until you cancel.

If the license stops being active, you won't be able to take more photos until you activate a valid one, but your settings and your photos stay where they are.

What if I have several photobooths?

Each license is for one photobooth. If you use several at the same time, you need one license for each.

If you need more than 2 licenses, write to us from the contact page and we'll give you a special price.

Can I move the license to another PC?

Yes. Deactivate it on the first computer (Settings → License → Deactivate on this device) and activate it on the new one. Each license can be used on one computer at a time.

If you no longer have the old PC, or you've reinstalled Windows, write to us and we'll free up that activation.

What happens if there's no internet at the event?

The program keeps working. It saves the photos and uploads them to the cloud when the connection comes back. The license can go up to 30 days without being checked; with internet it revalidates by itself.

Looking for a physical photobooth?

We also build and sell photobooths: the vintage model, with a touchscreen, and the vanity model, a magic mirror. This program is what runs them.
