2. What data we process and why

When you browse this website

We don't use tracking cookies or analytics tools, and the website has no forms. The hosting provider (Cloudflare) may log technical data about each visit, such as the IP address, so that the site works and is secure.

If you write to us

We process your email address and the content of your message in order to reply to you. The legal basis is your consent when you write to us or, if it concerns a purchase, the management of that relationship. We keep the message for as long as needed to help you and to meet our legal obligations.

If you write to us on WhatsApp, we process your phone number and the content of the messages for the same purpose and on the same legal basis. WhatsApp (Meta) also processes that data under its own privacy policy. The WhatsApp button on this website is just a link: it loads nothing from WhatsApp or Meta until you click it.

If you buy a license

The purchase is made on Polar (Polar Software, Inc., a company based in the United States), which processes the payment, handles the applicable tax and issues the invoice. Polar processes your payment and billing data under its own privacy policy; this website doesn't receive your card details. You can read it at polar.sh. From Polar we receive the data needed to manage your license and give you support (for example, your email address).

If you use the program

To activate and check the license, the program connects to Polar and sends it your license key and an anonymous label for the computer. The license status is stored on your computer. The photos from your events are stored on your computer and are not sent to japiBooth. If you configure it that way, the program copies the photos to the cloud folder you choose or uploads them to your own Google account (Drive or, in experimental mode, Photos); in that case, see the section Use of Google data. To notify you of new versions, the program checks, when it starts (and every 12 hours), a public file on this website, japibooth.com/version.json. That request carries neither your license key nor any personal data, only what any web request carries (the IP address and the name and version of the program), which the hosting provider may log. The program sends no usage statistics or error reports, and includes no analytics tools. To find out whether there is an internet connection, it may open a test connection to a public Google server (8.8.8.8) without sending it any data.

3. Use of Google data (Google Drive)

This section only applies if, from Settings, you connect your Google account to the program so that each photo has its own link and its own QR code. It's optional: without connecting, the program works the same and doesn't communicate with Google.

What permission it asks for and what it does with it

The program requests a single permission, https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file, which only gives access to the files and folders that the program itself creates. It can't see, read or modify the rest of your Drive. With that permission, the program:

  • creates in your Drive a folder called “japiBooth” and, inside it, a subfolder for each event, with the name and date you set in Settings (so photos from different events don't get mixed up);
  • uploads to the event's subfolder the strip of each session and, unless you turn it off in Settings, the individual photos of each strip;
  • turns on, only on each uploaded strip, “anyone with the link” access and uses that link to generate the QR code for that strip. Individual photos don't get a link of their own;
  • only if you ask for it in Settings (“Use as folder QR”) and confirm the warning, turns on link access for that event's subfolder, so that whoever has its QR code sees all the photos of the event. It doesn't change the permissions of any other folder or file.

Where they are stored and who they are shared with

Photos go directly from your computer to your Google Drive. japiBooth doesn't receive them, doesn't store them and doesn't keep any other data from your Google account on its servers, and doesn't share, sell or use it for advertising. The permission that Google grants to the program (the “token”) is stored only on your computer. We only use that access to offer you this feature.

japiBooth's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

How to stop using it and delete your data

  • In the program's Settings, click “Disconnect”: the program deletes the permission from your computer and revokes it at Google (if there is a connection).
  • You can also withdraw access at any time from myaccount.google.com/permissions.
  • The uploaded photos are in your Drive and remain yours. Their links work until you delete the photo or remove its link from Drive. If you shared an event's folder, you can stop sharing it at any time from Drive.

Since japiBooth doesn't store data from your Google account, we have nothing to delete on our side. If you have questions, write to us at info@japibooth.com.

The experimental Google Photos feature follows the same principle: photos go from your computer to your Google account and japiBooth doesn't receive them.

4. Recipients

We share data with the providers that make the service possible: Polar (payments and licenses) and the website's hosting provider. Polar Software, Inc. and Cloudflare, Inc. are US companies, so purchase data and the technical data of visits to this website may be processed outside the European Economic Area. According to their own policies, Polar protects them with adequate safeguards, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, and Cloudflare adheres to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and also incorporates those clauses in its data processing agreements. If you connect your Google account, your photos go from your computer to Google, which processes them under the terms of your account. We don't sell your data.

5. Your rights

You can ask us for access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing and portability of your data by writing to info@japibooth.com. If you believe we haven't handled your data properly, you can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es).

6. Photos of your event's guests

If you use the program at events, you manage your guests' photos. As the organizer, you decide what is done with them and whom to inform. japiBooth has no access to those photos. If you turn on the per-photo Google Drive link, anyone who has the link or the QR code of a photo can view and download it, so it's a good idea to tell guests how their photos are shared.

7. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above.
